"2024 NSU Homecoming: Red Hot WNSB Style"

     Norfolk State University’s Homecoming 2024 was a showcase of style and school pride, with WNSB Hot 91 staff, interns, and volunteers debuting fresh red shirts representing the station’s spirit and dedication. Each of us put our own spin on the look, adding accessories or unique touches that showed off our personalities while keeping that unified, branded feel. Together, we kept over 31,000 Spartans and spectators entertained, filling the air with tracks that made the crowd move. From the tailgate to the Spartan Shuffle, our music and style lit up the homecoming festivities, connecting everyone through the power of NSU spirit and sound.

Eucalyptus: The Special Plant & its Key Benefits

     While many of us look forward to the smells of fresh pine during the winter months, I have found that my go-to plant to have throughout the entire house is the Eucalyptus.  To be quite honest, eucalyptus is a must-have essential for my household during the whole year. When I can find it fresh, I normally try to acquire it in large bunches because I know it's something that I like to keep in vases throughout each room of the house not only for its fragrance but also its other unique properties. 

     In case you didn’t know, I have always been one who loves to receive, pick, or purchase flowers. I also love to thrift, particularly for clear vases at secondhand shops. This way I can simply go under my cabinet at any time to grab one of my decorative vases to fill them with flowers and create beautiful floral arrangements easily. The thing with flowers is although they are beautiful, adding pops of color and unique fragrances of their own, most of them require watering and maintenance.

      However, the truth is the beauty of a flower only lasts but a short time before it begins to wither and attract insects.  Due to this, I discovered a plant that gives me a similar type of fragrant pleasure without the maintenance, but still allows me the privilege of using my lovely vases throughout the entire home to satisfy my décor and style.  

      Not only is the eucalyptus plant fragrant and decorative enough to add a small sprig on gifts, garland, and reefs during the holiday for a unique pop, but it's also long-lasting and hated by insects. It’s such a powerful plant and even more impressive, there are 700 different types of eucalyptus plants in existence. To add, eucalyptus can also be transformed into tea and oil.  For added benefits, I often drip some droplets of the essential eucalyptus oil in my diffusers to promote relaxation throughout the day and especially before bed. I also use eucalyptus oil in my hair from time to time for its extraordinary antiseptic properties.  To enjoy a spa-like experience, the eucalyptus plant can be hung around the shower head in the bathroom, but I normally just find a vase!
